Heavy Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air and electrical systems
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
- Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Complete work orders and documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and customers
- 2+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic (heavy-duty preferred)
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, air and electrical systems
- Ability to use diagnostic software and repair tools
- Welding/fabrication experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment

Full-time, Monday through Friday
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Repair and maintain systems on class 4–8 powered tractors and trailers
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and air systems
- Use hydraulic jacks for under-vehicle repairs
- Assist with engine, transmission, differential, and spring replacements
- Troubleshoot and repair braking, electrical, air, and exhaust systems
- Document repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks
- Collaborate with partners for training and assistance
- Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper function

Technician Levels & Role Descriptions
Technician I (Entry-Level Technician)
Experience/Skills
- Typically 0–2 years of experience in diesel repair or related field.
- Basic understanding of fleet maintenance and repair.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, fluid checks, brake inspections, and simple part replacements.
- Able to use basic hand tools and shop equipment safely.
- Follows instructions and established procedures.
Expectations
- Learn and grow under guidance of senior technicians.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Develop diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Technician II (Intermediate Technician)
Experience/Skills
- 2–5 years of experience in medium/heavy duty diesel repair.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Capable of diagnosing and repairing common issues without constant supervision.
- Can perform more complex repairs such as brakes, suspension, driveline, exhaust, and engine component replacements.
- Proficient in using diagnostic software and tools.
Expectations
- Work independently on most repairs.
- Provide support and mentorship to Technician I.
- Demonstrate solid troubleshooting skills and efficiency.
Technician III (Advanced Technician / Lead Tech)
Experience/Skills
- 5+ years of experience with medium/heavy duty diesel repair.
- Expert-level diagnostics on engines, transmissions, emissions systems, and electrical components.
- Proficient in advanced troubleshooting and able to resolve complex repair issues.
- Strong understanding of DOT compliance and fleet service standards.
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced technicians.
Expectations
- Handle high-level diagnostics and major component repairs.
- Lead by example in productivity, quality, and safety.
- Serve as a go-to technical resource for the shop.
Shop Foreman (Master Technician / Team Leader)
Experience/Skills
- Proven mastery of all technical aspects of diesel repair and fleet service.
- Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across all systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to schedule, assign, and oversee shop workflow.
- Provides final quality control checks before vehicles are released.
Expectations
- Lead, coach, and develop the technician team.
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and to standard.
- Manage shop safety, productivity, and quality.
- Act as liaison between technicians, management, and customers as needed.
